HOLDRUM SCHOOL TEEN RECREATION PROGRAM

                                                                                                                 2008/09 School Year

Dear Parents and Students:

WELCOME

Welcome to a new year at Teen Rec!  We are looking forward to another exciting year filled with a variety of different events.  Our Teen Rec schedule / calendar with a list of events is also on this web site.  Please be sure to note which events correspond to your child’s grade.  Also, check the web site for reminders of upcoming events and changes which might have taken place (such as time or date changes).  Permission slips - which are required for non-Holdrum events - will also be available on the web site (about a week to 10 days before the event).  In addition, please give us your email address so that we have another way to alert you to any changes.

RIVER VALE PTA MEMBERSHIP

Please remember that, due to insurance regulations, if a student is being enrolled in the Teen Rec program, River Vale PTA membership is required.

HOW TO ENROLL

If you don’t already have an account with the River Vale Schools (the same one you use to order food), you must create one by going to “user login”. If you already have an account, simply log in.  Click on “Programs/Clubs”; then on “Teen Rec”; then on  “Join” and fill out the information.  The $25 enrollment fee per student will be paid through PayPal.

REFRESHMENTS

Just a note - at all of the Holdrum events, there will be refreshments for sale.  Please send your child with small bills as all items are $1 or less.

TEEN REC RULES

Parents and students:  Please dowload the enclosed parent and student rules and read them carefully.  After reading, please sign the respective sheets and either bring them to your first Teen Rec event or put them in an envelope marked "Teen Rec" and drop them off in the Holdrum school office.   Adherence to the Teen Rec rules is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of each student.  These rules will be strictly enforced and failure to follow them will result in temporary or permanent suspension of the child’s membership.

CHAPERONING

Parents, please note that since our organization relies totally on parent volunteers, at least one parent is required to chaperone one Teen Rec event during the year your child is enrolled.  If you cannot fulfill this requirement, please enlist a friend, neighbor or other responsible adult to help you out.  Included on the parent membership agreement is a pledge to chaperone.  Check the event list and indicate your preference and availability by listing three choices.  We will notify you of the event to which you have been assigned.  Also, if you would like to chaperone more than one event – maybe even all seven! -  please let us know.  Having the same parents at all or most of the events helps to ensure consistency in adhering to rules and following procedures.

OUR GOAL

Our goal is for our children to have fun in a safe environment.  It is our hope that Teen Rec will provide them with an opportunity to socialize in a positive and productive manner.
