WHAT IT IS AND A NEW PROCEDURE ON HOW TO JOIN!
Hi 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and parents. Welcome to another year of Teen Rec!
WHAT IS TEEN REC??
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Holdrum Teen Rec program, it is a PTA sponsored program into which all Holdrum students are eligible to enroll. We hold a different event almost every month. Some events take place at Holdrum and some are offsite. Examples of what we might do are dances, karaoke, snow tubing, ice skating, and our annual year-end swim party. Not all events are for all of the grades. Sometimes one grade is alone and sometimes two or all three grades participate together.
REQUIREMENTS
Being a Holdrum student does not automatically mean that you are enrolled in the Teen Rec program. There is membership fee of $25 per child which covers the entertainment and activities for the Holdrum events. Also, Teen Rec subsidizes the offsite events, but, because of the higher costs associated with them, many of these events also require an additional fee to help cover the costs.
Parents – if your child enrolls in Teen Rec, you must chaperone one event during the school year. One of the forms which you must fill out lets you list your choice of which event you would like to chaperone. If you are interested in chaperoning more than one event – maybe even all seven! - please let us know by checking the box at the bottom of the “Parent Agreement” page. Having the same parents at all or most of the events helps to insure consistency in adhering to rules and following procedures. Our goal is for our children to have fun in a safe environment.
Also, due to insurance regulations and because Teen Rec is a PTA sponsored program, PTA membership is required for student participation in this program.
HOW TO JOIN TEEN REC – IT IS ALL BEING DONE ONLINE NOW!!
You purchase a Teen Rec membership online through the PTA Store ( the same place you use to order Pasta and Pizza lunch ). The enrollment fee is $25 per student.
Open your web browser to the following address: rivervalepta.com/lunch . You need to log in using your PTA online account. If you don’t already have an online account with the River Vale PTA you must create one by clicking the ”register to order lunch” link located in the New Users menu.
To purchase your Teen Rec membership, click the “Join Teen Rec” link located in the Shopping menu. You’ll need to provide your address and contact information, an emergency contact and select your preferred chaperone dates. Make sure you select a PTA Membership if you’re not already a paid member.
Please make sure you print out and sign the parent and student agreements, making sure you have read the rules and bring it to your first event. You can download the agreement here
All registrations should be completed by Tuesday, September 22.
A schedule of Teen Rec events is available on the web site. Please be sure to note which events correspond to your child’s/children’s grade and if a permission slip is needed. All Teen Rec permission slips which are needed for the various events will also be posted on this site (about a week before the event date). Flyers and announcements such as date or time changes will also be made here – as well as through an email sent to you when you provide us with your email address.
