About Teen Rec
HOLDRUM SCHOOL TEEN RECREATION PROGRAM
WELCOME! 2011/12 School Year
Dear Holdrum Teen Recreation Parents and Students,
Welcome to a new year of Holdrum Teen Recreation! We are looking forward to another exciting year filled with a variety of different events. Our Teen Rec calendar with a list of events will be on the PTA website and the Holdrum Go Green folder. Please be sure to note which events correspond to your child’s grade. Also, check the web site for reminders of upcoming events and changes which might have taken place (such as time or date changes). E-mail blasts will also go out the week before the event as a reminder. Therefore, please give us your email address so that we have another way to alert you to any changes. Permission slips which are required for non-Holdrum events will also be available on the web sites and Go green Folder (about 3 weeks before the event).
Holdrum Teen Recreation is for students attending Holdrum Middle School entering grades 6 thru 8. The events are held on Friday evenings in the old gym or other off-site venues from September thru early June. This program is for Holdrum Teen Rec members. Please remember that, due to insurance regulations, if a student is being enrolled in the Teen Rec program, River Vale PTA membership is required. The PTA membership fee must be paid (either a single membership or family)and is separate from the $30.00 per child Teen Recreation Membership Fee.
All Teen Rec registrations, chaperone checks and PTA membership Fees should be completed no later than September 15, 2011.
Our goal is for our children to have fun in a safe environment. It is our hope that Teen Rec will provide them with an opportunity to socialize in a positive and productive manner.
At all of the Holdrum events, there will be refreshments for sale. Please send your child with small bills as all items are $1 or less. This is how we are able to fund the activities.
CHAPERONE RULES!!! An adherence program is set up as in the past year and we request a $25.00 AND WRITE NAME OF YOUR CHILD AND GRADE ON MEMO LINE OF CHECK. Please send this check into school with your child in an envelope marked ”C/O Dina DeMayo-Teen Recreation Chaperone” no later than September 15, 2011. This check will be returned to you shortly after your chaperone date upon leaving or will be given to you at the year end Swim Party. If you do not show on the night you were scheduled to chaperone or find an acceptable replacement and did not notify your Grade Coordinator your check will be added as a donation to the Holdrum Teen Rec funds for the year.
Parents, please note that since our organization relies totally on parent volunteers, at least one parent is required to chaperone one Teen Rec event during the year your child is enrolled. Parent Chaperones are one of the ways we can keep our children safe while they have fun at Teen Rec events. If you cannot fulfill this requirement, please enlist a friend, neighbor or other responsible adult to help you out. Check the event list on the registration form and indicate your preference and availability by listing three choices. We will notify you of the event to which you have been assigned. Also, if you would like to chaperone more than one event, please let us know. Having the same parents at all or most of the events helps to ensure consistency in adhering to rules and following procedures.
PLEASE READ THESE PARENT AND STUDENT RULES FOR TEEN CENTER
Parents and students: Please read these rules carefully. After reading, please print out and sign the bottom of both pages and have your child hand it in to the Holdrum office or advisory with his/her registration. By signing up for Teen Rec, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the rules. Adherence to the Teen Rec rules is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of each student. These rules will be strictly enforced and failure to follow them will result in temporary or permanent suspension of the child’s membership.
If you have any questions, please call the chairperson Dina DeMayo. My phone number can be found in the school directory.
